Babies are so lovable, a precious blessing and I’m so
envious of y'all with kids running into your arms after a long day spent with
your still-alive boss.
Oh, and yeah, this post is about babies; feel free to press
next if you're one of those heinous peeps disposing their newborns in garbage
bags.
So, my best friend, Messy, is getting a blessing in a week
and we're eternally so happy for her. She looks so gorgeous with her bump we
keep saying she needs to get pregnant more often :)
Anyway, having been annoyingly a part of her
life since we were nine, we decided to do something to make her think know
we've really grown up - A Surprise Baby Shower. Turned out, she ended up crying
the entire party and saying how sweet we were and how she would never get
friends as awesome as us and every time she turned to your side, you just had
to pretend you're on the phone or chewing your tongue just to keep yourself
from being dragged into her weeping world.
Took us a month to get the plans ready and since everyone
who came to the party said we needed to start event organizing, (now it’s
getting to my head) thought I make a post of it so you can get ideas for a
shower when your special pal is expecting a blessing.
Our shower theme was Milk and Pampers. We invited all of
Messy's pals and since it gets stressful choosing the gift to bring, we asked
everyone to bring a packet or two of diapers and a pair of baby clothes - very
helpful.
...ordered a zero years old baby cake and since she's named
her baby already…
Then with not much effort (Sorry Messy), we tricked her out
of her house and proceeded to:
(A) Hung a baby
clothes line across the house and peg baby stuff:
(B) literally, make
the house look like a baby's room:
and (C) prepare
lunch and dessert: Milk was the beverage of the day.
Prior to the day, we designed her baby a technology-inspired
alphabet book with a personalized message on each page because, you know, we're
awesome:
A for Apple, B for Bluetooth, F for Facebook…The trouble we
went through, huh?
Turned out baby Jayden got the most thoughtful gift:
And for the activities: Gave all guests a lit candle. Everyone
made a wish and prayer for baby Jayden out loud and mummy blew them all before
cutting the cake:
And…because we’re blessed with multiple personalities, the
evil one having hid for so long, finally showed up! So we played games. Annoying games:
Game 1: Prepared
a list of ten questions about the expecting parents and future plans for the
baby. On a private session, we asked daddy for his answers and during
game-time, asked mummy the same questions and she was expected to answer all,
seven of which should have been synonymous to daddy's answers. And yes, you
guessed right, she didn't get the number right.
Disciplinary action: Mummy
had to eat poop. We mashed ripe pawpaw in orange juice and served her in a
diaper. You don't believe me?
…and we took lots of pictures for the faces she made.
*ew*
*eeww*
*eewww*
Don’t agonize, hygiene was checked. But eew!
Game 2: We assorted
diaper pins (safety pins) with uncooked rice in a bowl then each person had to
pick out the diaper pins with the bowl placed on top of their head. The winner
would be greatly rewarded;
Game sounds easy, right?
It was annoyingly frustrating one couldn’t pick even
three, Carolina cried:
..but with the look on her face, you can tell Stacy went
home with a gift hamper. Ding!
Happy
parenting Messy and Sammy, we love you guys so much and we pray that Jay grows
up to be God-fearing and wise.
